All 10 in the package worked just fine right out of the box. Light color is yellowish, so jewels will light up a more yellow hue than the shade they have when OFF. Purple jewels look blue when OFF but will light up purple, red jewels will light up a more orangish red, violet jewels will light up pink, etc. so choose carefully the jewel color.
