The Hammond chassis box is inexpensive, sturdy, and easy to drill and cut to build my preamp power supply. You might want to leave the protective plastic on while you drill holes and cut circles that mount vacuum tube sockets and remove only as much plastic at a time as you need to while you bolt on transformers, chokes, pilot lights, switches, etc.
