It's a bad joke. Just buy one of the "other" New Sensor GZ34, like the Sovteks, and save $15. You are paying for the Mullard name that means less than NOTHING at all. It has a funny base and the same plates as the Sovtek. The Chinese 5AR4/GZ34 is the best one on the market right now. (2019) The Shuguang factory has really improved their 5AR4 over the past 8 or 10 years, and New Sensor has just stamped different names onto a Sovtek, and put wacky short colored bases on them. Oh and don't forget the extra $12-$25 for a special "name". They even make a Genalex 5AR4, which is comical. Genalex didn't even make their own preamp tubes! NEVER! Not even when they were made in England, 40 or 50 years ago. They were they never made be GEC. THOSE ARE ALL REBRANDED MULLARDS! Mullard responded with their gold label "MASTER SERIES", but Genalex was simply buying Mullard ECC81s, ECC82s, ECC83s, testing them and then relabeling them, and charging really high prices. They did test and reject some tubes, but GEC MOV never made a 9 pin mini anything triode preamp tube. Their EF86? Also likely Mullard, maybe a Mazda. THESE REISSUES ARE SECOND RATE NEXT TO THE CHINESE MADE GZ34s. TEST EQUIPMENT USED: Western Electric KS 15750, Triplett 3444A, Triplett manufacturer's analyzer, Weston model 686 analyzer, Westinghouse 1205 analyzer, Tektronix 576 curve tracer, Applied Analog Audio Amplification AAAA 6-24 burn in table/analyzer, Hickcok 752/752A. Applied Analog Audio Amplification AD4 valve analyzer + valve data logger. Tektronix 371B, 1500 Watt (intermittent) curve tracer. Power supplies for the AAAA test gear, are made by John Fluke, Raytheon, Gates, Lambda, General Radio, Daystrom, US Navy, and Heathkit. They are all REGULATED VERY WELL. 0-6000 volts. Most are in the 0-300 0-500 volt ranges. FCC call sign: KI7AQJ, so I also do transmission tubes, at voltages of up to 15,000 volts. Those are done with US Navy transformers wired parallel series for a maximum of 18KV DC no load, or 15,000 VDC @ 2000mA load.
