Product Reviews
I’ve had one tube in each of the two quads I’ve ordered fail prematurely. In each case the cathode tube was not inserted through the bottom mica support, just the heater wire were coming through. They both went with red plates (short), fortunately I caught it quickly both times and no damage was done to my amp. They did sound very good though while they worked, very sloppy of “Genelex?” to let these pass quality control, the defect was obvious.
these are very well made reliable tubes that will take more abuse That most EL34 's because their ratings are much higher. Be careful not to over bias... a pair of these in push Pull operation can produce up to 70 watts...When I have used these I bias them to 60%-70 % like any EL34 and forget about it.
I am very pleased with these tubes. They are replacing some Svetlana EL34's that are still within spec from the '90's in a hi-fi (The Svetlanas, no longer manufactured, now go for big bucks.) These new KT77's IMHO are better in every way.
