Use this Fret Slotting Miter Box to accurately cut fret slots with a fretting handsaw. The ball-bearing guides make sawing easier and faster; they hold your fret saw perpendicular to the fingerboard and can be adjusted to match the blade precisely. You can quickly slot any board up to 3"" (76.2mm) wide, with adjustable depth of cut for any fret wire. You always have an unobstructed view of your work.

Made of rugged aluminum and 12" (304.8mm) long, this miter box has convenient mounting holes for firm attachment to your workbench, the mounting screws and spanners are included. Instructions also included.

To all intents and purposes this is almost the same as the one you can get from the most popular luthier tool dealer (guess who) at about half the price. It's a solid piece of kit. The instructions could be a bit better but if you can't figure them out you probably shouldn't be slotting fretboards anyway ;-) One thing that is not mentioned in the description is that there is a small pin in the channel that can be used to line up a fret slot guide. I made my own guide using a plastic fret template from CB Gitty and a scrap piece of wood. I used a .042 nut slotting file from those other guys to cut the notches in the edge. .042 is a bit small but I rocked it a bit to widen it out. Works like a champ.
