Mod® Electronics Oil Caps are high quality, hand-crafted capacitors that are the perfect choice for guitars, amplifiers, and all audio equipment. Each capacitor is impregnated with mineral oil for a void-free winding providing highly stable capacitance. The capacitor is hermetically sealed in an aluminum casing to ensure a long life. The detailed construction results in a precise capacitance with a tolerance of ±10%. Mod® Oil Caps also feature a red stripe to designate the outside foil.

  • Casing: Hermetically sealed aluminum
  • Dielectric: Mineral oil
  • Lead Diameter: 20AWG
  • Termination Style: Axial
  • Tolerance: ±10%
  • Values: .001 μF - .1 μF
  • Voltage Rating: 600V

Haven’t received my order yet! Snail Mail

I purchased two 0.022uf caps for my Les Paul but I wasn’t really expecting to use it. I normally use vintage Sprague Bees or some other vintage cap. Today I was messing with my wiring and I decided to wire in some alligator clips to my bridge pickup pots to sub in and record some different caps. I tried about 10 caps and this one came out on top. I was hoping it didn’t because I usually prefer the look and sound of my vintage caps.
These caps gave my bridge pickup a bit more clarity and tightness. It also gave me a bit more treble and presence. I play in a band so having a bit more presence and clarity is important. Bedroom players who want more bass might not care for this cap but I do. The difference was subtle, as with all tone caps, but it was apparent.

I normally use Sprague 192P capacitors in my guitars for the tone cap. No other reason why than I picked up a literal box of them at an estate sale for $5(over 300 caps altogether all Sprague 192P).

I recently rewired all my guitars to the 1950s style wiring which I actually like, and when made an order I put one of these for #1 in the basket. Installed it and going through the break in period now. To be honest, I’m not sure I personally like how the cap sounds. It’s a .022uf where I normally use .0015uf and this cap has made my guitar really shrill. I mean really shrill. I have had to add in quite a bit of bass on the fron of the amp, while rolling off the tone control when playing. The amp is a Mesa Dual Rectifier as well. Not known for their lack of low end.

I’m going to live with this cap to see how it sounds in a couple months. If worst comes to worse, I will try to shape it with some application of DCV then put it back in the guitar.

Worth the money? On the fence for use in a guitar. They do sound good in tone path areas of tube amps.
