The 5879 is a sharp-cutoff pentode of the 9-pin miniature type intended for use as an audio amplifier in applications requiring reduced microphonics, leakage noise, and hum. It is especially useful in the input stages of medium-gain public address systems, home sound recorders, and general-purpose audio systems.

5879 is only tube I will use in my se kt66 homebuilt guitar amps 2nd one in progress.
Stays clean but can breakup a little when driven hard doesn't compress as much.no noise and nos cheap.use Gibson circuit and tweak.
I use in v1 with 12ax7 parallel driver.
