The JJ Electronic ECC802 is a high performance, long plate version of the ECC82 / 12AU7. Like all JJ preamp tubes, these are built into a rugged package using the spiral filament and robust plate structure resulting in low microphonics and high reliability. The long plate version of this tube differs from the standard version with its stronger and fuller sound which offers a wider and more balanced frequency response. This tube ranges from deep rich lows to pristine highs covering a spectrum of harmonically dynamic mids along the way. This tube is an excellent choice for any guitar amp and perfect for studio and Hi-Fi equipment as well. This tube will work in any 12AU7 or ECC82 position.

Great sound for new production.

The individual triodes are well matched which gives a reduction in 2nd harmonic distortion when used in a phase splitter. Some might consider this a lack of warmth, but as a retired recording engineer, I can attest to the accuracy of the reproduction.

Combined with the JJ ECC802 S / 12AU7 and Apex Matched KT88 quads, the system has never sounded better. Imaging in rock solid. Dynamics are best ever. Air and sound stage superb.

I'm using this Long Plate tube (regular version, not gold pin) in an Auris Euterpe headphone amp. This is definitely my favorite out of many 12AU7 tubes that I have tried. The sound is refined, neutral & transparent, without audible distortion. Have not noticed any microphonic problems.

By far the most microphonic tube I have ever encountered. Maybe it was a fluke but it was really bad. I've used the long plate 12AX7s from a number of brands including JJ and they sometimes can be a bit microphonic but nothing like to this long plate 12AU7. It was totally unusable so I just put in an EHX 12AU7 — problem solved.

These tubes sound excellent, but if you are placing them into vintage equipment, someone in their infinite ignorance has made the pins skinner than originals so you
might have the tubes loose in the socket, not sure what we are going to do, but might
can build up the pins with solder although it sounds like bad idea?? stumped, in the middle of recording and have to tell people do not bump the table? lol crap huh?

I used this in a Behringer VT999 tube monster FX pedal and it made a huge difference. I was able to get the pedal to sound the way I wanted it . Very nice . Thanks Antique Electronics for all your help .

I don't have much to compare these to, but I am very satisfied with these ECC802S. I don't feel the need to try the gold pin type. I use two of the ECC8O2S in a Forewatt preamp and they make the music "bloom" (best way to describe it). My power amp has a 6N1P driver and it sounds pretty much 2 dimensional on its own. Adding these make the sound stage taller and deeper. Bass is holographic and more "round" sounding. Much more of a high quality, refined sound. Put it this way, they regularly cause me to sit up and take notice and at times have even brought tears of joy. Some of you know what I mean.
