Product Reviews
I used this Hammond chassis to house a 6V6 monobloc amplifier with good results. Aluminum is so much easier to machine but you sacrifice the magnetic shielding from the steel counterpart. Hey, life’s a trade off.
A project box is a project box unless of course you have to get a tetanus shot from handling it. At this price point, these Hammond boxes are a smart buy. Bends are straight, covers line up, mostly film protected and thick enough to handle the transformers I burden them with. Some of the other boxes I have purchased in the past look like 4th grade shop class disasters. Just get these. Lots of them
Overall, product is as-described. I was a little disappointed that it had two long scratches, as if something had been placed on top it and dragged across it. It left two parallel scratches the length of the chassis on the top front and top back (the plastic wrapping also had a line of little tears along the scratch). It's not a problem for me as I'm painting the chassis, but had I not been painting it, I would have wanted a replacement.
It is procured for my future 5 tube super-heterodyne radio.
I think it is adequate sized chassis for my project.
