The Maxon OD808 is an identical circuit to the original TS808 Tubescreamer Maxon designed and built in the late 1970s. Featuring a JRC4558, the OD808 offers the same natural overdriven tones as the original pedals used widely across all genres of music. The OD808 has a warmer and smoother tone than the OD-9 that pairs nicely with clean amps in addition to sounding great in just about any rig.

Features

  • Natural and smooth overdrive effects with tube-like saturation
  • Preserves the original tone of the instrument
  • Produces a variety of sound ranging from a clean boost to fully saturated overdrive
  • LED indicator for effect on/off
  • DC power or 9V battery
  • Made in Japan

For the price, this is a great pedal, it may not be a boutique pedal but Maxon has been around a long time. Trust me,they know what their doing. Doe's it sound like an original TS-808 ? Probably, but I can't say for sure because I don't have an original TS-808. I do have an Analog Man modded TS-9, and side by side the TS-9 is just a little bit softer sounding,(not a bad thing) but I can match that sound with the OD-808. I put the OD-808 on my board and I'm leaving the TS-9 at home, I just don't want to destroy it. The OD-808 is a great pedal, built like a tank,2 screw battery access and DC jack.
