2 answers I am replacing a 30/40/[email protected] [email protected] cap can in a 1960 Motorola console. Will this work properly if one of the 30uf sections remains unused? (I'd wire a separate [email protected])

Yes you can, but why waste a cap section, just tie the unused 30 uf section to either the other 30 uF or one of the 40 uF and get a little more filtering. Also the 450VDC rating gives you a little more head room in case of surges, especially if you have a silicon diode rectifier instead of a tube rectifier.
1 answers I need a Cap for a Magnavox console amp that is 40/40/20 @ 400 VDC and 30 @ 25vdc but cannot find it. I noticed most have a -10% to =50. Would using the 30 UF section for what was once 20uf be ok?
