Asked by Anonymous on December 1st, 2019. December 3rd, 2019 Staff Member These are polarized. We don't carry any non-polarized electrolytic caps in this value at this time. February 14th, 2022 The Solen Fast capacitor is a 630 Volt film cap that will work as a non-polarized capacitor and they come in 22 uF sizes for$19 each. It is not an electrolytic cap but it will work. You can also make one from two electrolytic capacitors soldered back to back (- to - ). You need to double the capacitance though, so two 47s would be about 23.5. One capacitor forward biases the other one. I would advise buying one instead as they were aged together as a non-polarized cap. The Solen Fast 22uF is a nice choice as they have a much longer lifespan compared to electrolytic caps. So CED Antique Electronics kind of does sell them in a way. If you do not have an LCR to match a pair, I'd be a little apprehensive about making one, but that is basically how non-polarized caps are made. They do get formed or aged together so they are more or less matched and pass QC, which a DIY version is not formed together and it may be a little sketchy.

I'm not familiar with this brand of capacitor. But I thought I would give them a try. They replaced two old capacitors in a linear amplifier that had gone bad due to age. The old ones were about twice the size of the new ones. Will have to wait and see how they stand up.

I like these caps but on one of them the negative lead broke off right at the body and can't be soldered back on. I wasn't bending it that much - no more than any other cap I've ever installed. Anyway, thankfully I had an extra.
