New reprint of the 4th edition of this book, originally published in 1973. Discusses signal amplification theory, how each part functions in an amplifier and contains many schematics and amps popular at the time. Softbound, 382 pages.

One of today's most popular instruments is the electric guitar. Proper operation of the amplifier associated with the guitar is essential to the amplification and enhancement of the guitar sound. The ultimate test of a guitar amplifier is the quality of the musical sound that comes from the speaker.

Many electronic service shops hesitate to service guitar amplifiers because the service litarature is sometimes difficult to acquire through standard channels. Electric Guitar Amplifier Handbook has been written to dispel any qualms the serviceman may have about servicing these amplifiers. While explaining in detail the functions of all parts of the guitar, the author relates them to familiar electronic circuitry. The musical complaints of the guitarist are translated into the common language of electronics - faulty components, grid bias, voltages, and waveforms.

This fourth edition of the book ha been revised and updated. Not only the latest but many more schematics of earlier types of amplifiers have been included in this edition. Much information on solid-state amplifiers, replacement transistors, and integrated circuits is included in the book. Where information on specific models is not available, typical circuits are included.

Musicians who have a limited electronics background, but with an interest for the electronics of their amplifiers, should find the explanations in this book easy to comprehend. Electronic technicians will receive all the information needed to enter this interesting and profitable servicing field.

Besides owning a service shop, Jack Darr was the well-known author of books and articles about electornics servicing. He was a membmer of the Institute of Electircal and Electronic Engineers and was Service Editor of Radio Electronics magazine.
