Diamond fret file with offset shape for more comfortable fret dressing and improved clearance over the guitar body at high frets. Both full length concave filing grooves (for medium and wide fretwire) uniformly coated with micro industrial diamond particle.

Diamond fret files are the best way to recrown your frets! Unlike traditional fret files, diamond files cut in both directions, they don't chatter or leave chatter marks, and the fret is smoother after crowning. Because the diamond particles cut on the forward and backward strokes, you get better control over your work and the job goes much faster.

What grit do I need? If you're just starting out in fretting, we recommend the 300-grit files, as they don't remove too much material too soon — a mistake that many beginning fretters make. Even a professional will find the 300-grit file allows them to quickly get the fret properly crowned after only a few strokes. Use the 150-grit when you need to mill-off lots of material in a hurry.

I give it 2 stars because it might be good for dressing fret ends, but not for crowning. It just mows the tops off the frets, the radius is too large for making a peak.

I have no idea exactly what to use this for. The grit is so coarse I have a hard time polishing the striations, & scratches in the frets out. I am an old school three sided file with safe edges ground on the corners, or I use a fine single cut Swedish pillar file, with safe edges, and create my own crowns 100% by hand. I suppose these might be okay for knocking a .048" down to a .036" fret. It is still far too coarse a grit for my tastes. I started doing luthrie back in 1980.
