Audio Power Amplifier - LM380, Class-AB, 2.5W, 14-Pin DIP
LM380 power amp in a 14-pin DIP package. The LM380 is a power audio amplifier for consumer applications. In order to hold system cost to a minimum, gain is internally fixed at 34 dB. A unique input stage allows ground referenced input signals. The output automatically self-centers to one-half the supply voltage. The output is short circuit proof with internal thermal limiting. The package outline is standard dual-in-line. The LM380N uses a copper lead frame. The center three pins on either side comprise a heat sink.
Audio Power Amplifier - LM386N-1 / 4, Low Voltage
LM386 Low Voltage Audio Power Amplifier The LM386 is a mono low voltage amplifier that can be used in a variety of applications. It can drive loads from 4 Ω to 32 Ω. The gain is internally set to 20 but it can be modified from 20 to 200 by placing a resistor and capacitor between pins 1 and 8. As this is an Op Amp it can be used in different configurations to fit in several applications. The internal gain setting resistor allows the LM386 to be used in a very low part count system. In addition a series resistor can be placed between pins 1 and 5 to modify the gain and frequency response for specific applications. These are found in many small audio amplifiers and even tiny pedal sized guitar amplifiers! There are tons of possibilities for this little Op Amp.
Comparator - LM311, Single, High Speed, 8-Pin DIP
LM311 single comparator IC in an 8-pin DIP package. The LM311 device is a single high-speed voltage comparator. These devices are designed to operate from a wide range of power supply voltages, including ±15-V supplies for operational amplifiers and 5-V supplies for logic systems. The output levels are compatible with most TTL and MOS circuits. These comparators are capable of driving lamps or relays and switching voltages up to 50 V at 50 mA. All inputs and outputs can be isolated from system ground. The outputs can drive loads referenced to ground, VCC+ or VCC−. Offset balancing and strobe capabilities are available, and the outputs can be wire-OR connected.

24LC32A/P EEPROM in an 8-pin DIP package commonly used in Spin FV-1 projects. The Microchip Technology Inc. 24LC32A is a 4K x 8 (32K bit) Serial Electrically Erasable PROM capable of operation across a broad voltage range (2.5V to 6.0V). It has been developed for advanced, low power applications such as personal communications or data acquisition. The 24LC32A also has a page-write capability of up to 32 bytes of data. The 24LC32A is capable of both random and sequential reads up to the 32K boundary. Functional address lines allow up to eight 24LC32A devices on the same bus, for up to 256K bits address space. Integrated Circuit - AS3310, VC ADSR, Alfa, 16-Pin Dip
The AS3310 is Alfa’s version of the CEM3310 IC. The AS3310 is a self-contained, precision ADSR type of envelope generator intended for electronic music and other sound generation applications. Attack, decay and release times are exponentially voltage controllable over a wide range, and the sustain level is linearly voltage controllable from 0 to 100% of the peak voltage Vp. All four control Inputs are Isolated from the rest of the circuitry so that the control pins of tracking units may be simply tied together.
On the negative power output, there is an internal Zener diode at 7.4 volts ± 10%, which allows the chip to supply a maximum voltage of ± 15 volts with a current-limiting resistor REE, and a minimum positive supply voltage of + 11 volts and a minimum negative supply voltage of -5 volts.. A series current limiting resistor must be added between pin 6 and the supply.

The AS3320 is Alfa’s version of the CEM3320 IC. The AS3320 is a high performance voltage controlled four-pole filter with on-chip voltage controllable resonance IC. The four independent sections may be interconnected to provide a wide variety of filter responses, such as low pass, high pass, band pass and all pass. A single input exponentially controls the frequency over greater than a ten octave range with little control voltage feedthrough. Another input controls the resonance in a modified linear manner from zero to low distortion oscillation. For those demanding applications, provision has been made to allow trimming for improved control voltage rejection. Each filter section features a variable gain cell which is fully temperature compensated, exhibits a better signal-to-noise ratio and generates its low distortion predominantly in the second harmonic. The device includes a minus two volt regulator to ensure low power dissipation and consequent low warm-up drift.
Integrated Circuit - AS3340A, VCO, Alfa, 16-Pin Dip
The AS3340A is Alfa’s version of the CEM3340 IC. The AS3340A is a completely self-contained, precision voltage controlled oscillator, featuring both exponential and linear control scales and up to four buffered output waveforms: triangle, sawtooth, square, and pulse with voltage controllable pulse width. Full temperature compensation makes these VCOs extremely stable, and eliminates the need for a temperature compensation resistor. The highly accurate exponential and linear control inputs are virtual ground summing nodes, allowing multiple control voltages to be mixed within the device itself.
Also included is provision for hard and soft synchronization of the frequency, and an output for easy adjustment of high frequency tracking. Special care in the design ensures oscillation start-up under any power-on sequence and supply conditions.
An on-chip 7.4 volt Zener diode allows the device to operate off ±15 volt supplies, as well as +12, -5 volt supplies.

The AS3360 is Alfa’s version of the CEM3360 IC. The AS3360 is a dual general purpose voltage controlled transconductor intended for such applications as voltage controlled amplifiers, filters, and waveform generators. Each transconductor independently provides both linear and exponential control scaling over greater than a 100 dB range. Complete with virtual ground summing inputs, wide voltage compliance current outputs, and control inputs referenced to ground, the AS3360 requires exceptionally few external components and is extremely easy to use. Because of its inherent ultra-low control feedthrough, no trimming is required.

Integrated Circuit - SN74LS175, Quadruple D-Type Flip-Flops, 16-pin DIP
This quad flip flop is a part used in our Relay True Bypass Switching Part 2: Momentary and Soft Touch Switches article. These monolithic, positive-edge-triggered flip-flops utilize TTL circuitry to implement D-type flip-flop logic. All have a direct clear input, and the '175, 'LS175, and 'S175 feature complementary outputs from each flip-flop. Information at the D inputs meeting the setup time requirements is transferred to the Q outputs on the positive-going edge of the clock pulse. Clock triggering occurs at a particular voltage level and is not directly related to the transition time of the positive-going pulse.

The second of two legendary SSM filter updates, the FatKeys™ SSI2144 is a dedicated four-pole low-pass ladder filter with on-chip resonance control.
