Product Reviews
I purchased these to use with NOS octal sockets. They were very misshapened, i.e., non flat, when they arrived. Fortunately they are made from such soft material that they are easy to bend, but this is also a negative as they could bend when inserting tubes into the sockets. The key tabs are too large to fit my older sockets and must be bent downward at about a 45 degree angle to get them into the keying slots on the socket. I'd give these a fail for quality. They can be made to work so I won't give a single start but they should fit without having to work them over
The more common tube mounting plate has just one keyed tab, but these have four such tabs. They are great as is for use with Octal and 4-pin sockets or plugs, but to use with 6-pin sockets or plugs, it will be necessary to file or grind off one opposing pair of locating tabs; when using with 5, 7, or 9-pin sockets or plugs, it will be necessary to remove all except one of the tabs.
The usual tube mounting plate has just ONE internal key, while this one has FOUR--as pictured. It is fine as is for Octal and 4-prong plugs and sockets, but 2 opposing keys must be ground off when used with 6-prong plugs & sockets; and all but one key must be removed when mounting 5- or 7-prong plugs & sockets.
