Double edge nut files featuring popular bass guitar gauges specially designed for slotting nuts. Each set of files is specifically designed for guitars of a particular type. This set of three files will cover the work of six and cuts a smooth round bottom slot.

Always try and use a file gauge that’s not more than a couple thousandths larger than the gauge of string you are using. Smaller files can be used to create wider slots by using a side-to-side movement while cutting.

A nut file is a common luthier tool generally used for slotting nuts. There are many videos available online that can demonstrate how these function to help further your knowledge.

That would be ideal, but in theory, the slots would get brought back to a normal width when the surface of the nut is taken down to the proper height.

Both files cut a radiused bottom, so that alone wouldn't single one option out from the two.

With these files, I was able to accurately file the guitar nut string slots for perfect string height at the first fret! Of course, I also had purchased the digital slotting nut gauge, which made it possible for me to file the nut slots accurately with confidence.
