Yes, this goes in between your guitars output and your amps input (just like any guitar pedal). It will not connect between your speaker and your speaker input. Therefore, you can use it on any amp with any speaker load.

Are there any concerns with placing this item somewhere farther down the pedal chain? Does it have to be the 1st pedal in the chain?

This pedal is similar to your volume knob or a passive volume pedal and it will react differently depending on where it is in your chain. I would experiment and move it around to see what works for you!

This is an passive input attenuator and will attenuate volume much like a volume knob or a passive volume pedal. With that in mind you, will want to experiment with its placement for best results.

This is an passive input attenuator and will attenuate volume much like a volume knob or a passive volume pedal. It goes in front of your amps input just like any effects pedal and does not go in-between your amp and speaker.

This acts more like the volume knob on your guitar where it reduces volume and gain.

The Step ladder has a range from 0 dB to -14dB depending on the settings. Having the pot fully counter-clockwise is -3dB (with toggle 1 up). Toggle 1 down Toggle 2 up, -5 to -7dB. Toggle two down -14dB.

It should work, but you may have to find something of a "sweet spot" using the potentiometer.

I tried to use an ABS plastic box and I'm having a problem with AM radio station interference. No guitar singal at all. Looks like the metal box grounds the sleeve to chasis ground. Is that likely my problem? Otherwise all connections look good and correct. Test points check out also. Thanks!

Yes, MOD kits use the metal chassis box as a ground.
Product Reviews
Decent instructions and easy to build. This kit does just the opposite of many boost pedals, but requires no battery, so it's easy to carry to jams. Set your amp volume for lead when the pedal is by-passed and then choose the amount of attenuation when you're not playing solos.
