The Mod® Electronics Step Ladder is a passive input attenuator using high quality components for excellent reliability. True-bypass mode provides the maximum signal level. The attenuator pot and two toggle switches allow for flexibility in the amount of signal attenuation when not in bypass mode. Treble bleed capacitors in the circuit retain crisp high frequencies even at maximum attenuation. The Step Ladder is ideal for anything from getting a slight boost while playing single-note acoustic guitar leads or for jumping from clean to overdrive in a high-gain electric guitar amp. The Step Ladder’s compact size (3 3/4” x 1 1/2” x 1 1/4” enclosure) fits in most guitar cases. Its battery-free operation ensures that it’ll be ready to go whenever you need it.

Yes, this goes in between your guitars output and your amps input (just like any guitar pedal). It will not connect between your speaker and your speaker input. Therefore, you can use it on any amp with any speaker load.

This pedal is similar to your volume knob or a passive volume pedal and it will react differently depending on where it is in your chain. I would experiment and move it around to see what works for you!

No, it is a kit and it will have to be soldered and assembled.

This is an passive input attenuator and will attenuate volume much like a volume knob or a passive volume pedal. With that in mind you, will want to experiment with its placement for best results.

This is an passive input attenuator and will attenuate volume much like a volume knob or a passive volume pedal. It goes in front of your amps input just like any effects pedal and does not go in-between your amp and speaker.

This acts more like the volume knob on your guitar where it reduces volume and gain.

The Step ladder has a range from 0 dB to -14dB depending on the settings. Having the pot fully counter-clockwise is -3dB (with toggle 1 up). Toggle 1 down Toggle 2 up, -5 to -7dB. Toggle two down -14dB.

It should work, but you may have to find something of a "sweet spot" using the potentiometer.

Yes, MOD kits use the metal chassis box as a ground.

Decent instructions and easy to build. This kit does just the opposite of many boost pedals, but requires no battery, so it's easy to carry to jams. Set your amp volume for lead when the pedal is by-passed and then choose the amount of attenuation when you're not playing solos.
