Pedal Kit - Mod® Electronics, The Thunderdrive, Overdrive
The Mod® Electronics Thunderdrive is an overdrive pedal kit that will provide a signal boost at low gain settings and its own distortion at maximum gain settings. You can use it to push your preamp into overdrive or as a source of smooth distortion. Adjusting volume control and gain control results in a wide variety of tones in spite of its simple construction.
This pedal is capable of overdriving the preamp section of your guitar amp or adding its own layer of distortion at lower volume. Using point to point wiring and easy to follow instructions you can have a working overdrive pedal in a matter of hours.
All you need to provide is solder and a soldering iron. Uses 9 volt battery which is not included.

Product Reviews
I would have given this kit 5 stars, but for the modification to install an ac outlet. On battery power, the pedal works fine, though the drive sound is darker than the clean tone (not a flaw, just something to be aware of). However, when I installed the ac outlet per the instructions provided, I get no sound from the guitar, but a lot of noise from the unit when in drive mode, as though the hot lead was being grounded. I was careful in my work and went over the instructions, my wiring, and the diagram multiple times to confirm that I had done it according to the plan, but to no avail. Maybe a faulty outlet, but I'll keep trying. IMPORTANT NOTE: Antique Electronic Supply does not offer technical assistance for its kits, so be forewarned.
The first step in putting this unit together is to install the 1/4" connectors. right out of the gate, the holes milled for the 1/4" connectors are to close to the top of the box, and the connectors are not able to install and sit flush against the side of the box. the only fix is to oval out the holes, or maybe drill new holes. the only reason I gave 2 stars is that it still might sound good, and it's cheap. I'll revisit the review after i get it together.
Super easy to build and sounds great! It likes single coils and humbuckers! Throw this in front of an already driven amp and drive it some more...or put in front of a clean amp and get a nice rich overdrive. This pedal is on my pedal board now! Can't beat the price for a great pedal and a fun experience!
