They will work but the taper will be different than traditional audio taper.

This CTS 1meg J taper pot is a piece of junk. I bought it to replace a master volume pot on a 1973 Fender Bassman 100. The OEM pot induced a 60Hz him to the audio just as the pot reached full volume. The audio sound was still acceptable and much louder than the hum, but the client wanted a new pot. The new CTS induced unacceptable hum and distorted audio at both extremes of its range. Totally unusable. Do not buy at least for a Fender Bassman 100.
Ordered 8 1M, 6 250K J-taper pots. Resistance rated 20% tol, all pots measured under 10%. J-taper measured 30% or above on 250K pots. Taper on 1M pots measured 25-30%. One pot exceeded 1M resistance and 300K (30%) taper @ 50% rotation.

Amp un-mic'd in loud 6pc gospel band backline. Volume-3 came up fast; settled on 5 @ showtime. BASS TREBLE controls very usable 3 - 7. Pots stayed where I put 'em. Excellent amp performance with CTS pots. Thanks, AES for great price and super fast shipping!
These are low torque pots. Great for guitar applications in my opinion. I bought them for the correct j taper for the volume and treble positions in a Princeton Reverb. Check out the Fender CTS J taper pots for the correct higher torque. These shafts are also slightly longer than normal cts amp pots.
