Phillips panhead machine screw, 4-40, zinc. Designed to go through a hole or nut that is pre-tapped to form a mating thread for the screw. Has a general purpose bearing area and can be substituted in most applications for round, truss, or binding heads. Phillips drive is the most common drive used and is designed to "camout" when the screw reaches optimum tightness, thus preventing damage to the screw head.

I am replaceing all the tube sockets on my 81 JMP MKII 2204 head. Will these work with the right nuts?
Asked by Anonymous on March 22nd, 2019.
It is possible, you will want to verify the diameter of the holes in the chassis as well as compare the threading to ensure proper fit.
Two different sizes are required 4-40 for the small tubes & 6-32 for the power tubes. I prefer to use stainless hardware but zinc plate was more commonly used. A lot of the Marshall sockets were usually riveted in at the factory. They used a pneumatic "Cherry Burl" riveting gun or something like it only local to The UK. Vaco Klein used to sell a special tool for cutting those old rivets off. Cherry Burl guns are for mass production and they are expensive. That would make the socket mounting hardware look 100% stock.
