Snubber parts kit for circuits. Used to build a "snubber circuit" to remove unwanted high frequencies and high voltages resulting from output transformer ringing in a guitar amplifier, without the "brick wall" effect of using diodes.

The "Snubber" circuit was published in the "Radiotron Designers Handbook" in the 1930s and is supposed to serve as a "[sonically transparent] shock absorber" to remove unwanted high frequencies and dangerously high voltages resulting from output transformer ringing, without the "brick wall" effect of using diodes. "Output transformer ringing often sounds like unwanted fizz on the notes - especially bass notes."

I am about finished building a JTM clone. I have used a lot of high end parts, I added some mods FX loop, DC heaters, PPIMV. I don't like having the diodes in the output circuit, do you recommend the snubber circuit?
Asked by RIXTONEY1 on July 1st, 2021.
This circuit is primarily used for removing unwanted high frequencies and oscillations commonly referred to as "fizz" from power amps. If this kind of issue is not present on your amp you may not notice much of a difference with the snubber installed.

I have a 30 W audio amplifier, it has the Marantz model 5 configuration with two EL34 valves. Do I need to use the snubber circuit? Which kit is suitable for this situation?
Asked by Anonymous on June 13th, 2022.
Adding the snubber circuit to any amplifier is completely optional. If your amp uses two EL34s, then you would want to select the "2 Octal Tubes" option.
