Product Reviews
Didnt drop right into a vintage silverface, but with some dremmeling and flipping the metal plate around - got them in tight and they look great.
Not sure if I had a bad sample or they are all this way but the key way is not robust. I replaced an older socket with this one. Once i had the amp all back together I replaced the EL34 tubes. It is somewhat a blind operation to place the tubes but the keyway allowed me to insert the tube a few pins rotated and blew the fuse. What I did notice on further inspection is that the key way is only on the surface and not the full length of the socket like other sockets. I can easily not have the key way aligned and push the tube in. I also tried a diff brand of tube and could do the same miss-alignment in this socket.
I found these to be "ok". Biggest issue was with pulling the tube out of the socket sometimes the unused lug would come out of the socket with the tube.
The sockets did not work. The 6aG7 tube I ordered and received from you did not plug in to these sockets.
Perfect fit for a Heathkit W4-AM which has smaller holes for tube sockets.
Great replacement in my Dynaco Stereo-70 Amp! Recommended
perfect
If you plan on using these with 6550s and mounting them with screws then check dimensional clearances closely.
When mounted in a Leslie amplifier chassis (0.050" thick) from the bottom, the top of the socket is only 0.030" above the top surface of the chassis. If #4-40 screws are used to mount a socket, they will prevent complete insertion of a 6550 due to interference with its wide base. Once inserted the tube can be rocked from side-to-side slightly on the socket mounting screws.
The max head height of a #4-40 pan head screw is nominally 0.080". If used with a washer add 0.025"-0.040". I used a truss head screw (0.070" max height) with no washer. There is still interference.
worked great
