The C12K-2 is a step forward from the C12K. It has a different cone membrane which grants a more extended treble response to increase the detail and the shimmer of the tone, yet retains a well contoured smoothness. Equally at home with clean and mid-gain crunch tones, the C12K-2 offers an outstanding response to the player’s touch. When used with higher gain tones, it offers a powerful, rounded, organic tone that delivers a full-bodied thickness to single note lead runs.

Guitarist Description: A real workhorse, heavy on the mids with a solid, straightforward tone. Presented with overdrive distortion, it powers through with lows that are bold and heavy.

This is a great option for a high powered 1x12 combo. I put it in an old Ampeg SS-70 solid state 70 watt combo, which came with a Celestion G12K-85. The Celestion isn’t a bad speaker, but I felt like it had too much of an upper mid emphasis for this amp. The Jensen C12K-2 has more of a lower mid emphasis, while staying balanced, and has a good bit of sparkle on top. I’m very pleased with the Jensen. It’s a great alternative to the Celestion sound.
After performing simulation in WinISD against Eminence EVM-12L, Delta Pro, and EM12 I went with the Jensen C12K-2 for my Thiele TL-806 cab. I was not disappointed at all! It has a tight, fat low end, nice mids and smooth highs unlike the (harsh) Celestion V30 that many install in Thiele cabs. This 1x12 sounds much fatter like a 2x12 with the Jensen than it ever did with the V30! Already building a 2nd TL-806/Jensen C12K-2 and hopefully both will sound like a 4x12 but only the weight of 2 1x12's.
