Tip Tinner - Caig, DeoxIT®, for soldering irons
CAIG DeoxIT brand tip tinner 14.2 gram jar, soldering tip cleaner and conditioner. For cleaning and protecting of soldering iron tips. Prevents oxidation of tips. Keep your soldering iron tip optimized for accepting solder and efficiently heating your soldering surfaces for an easy flow of solder between the iron’s tip and your work. To use, dip the heated soldering iron tip into the compound. (Keep the lid on the container when not in use). A double sided tape on the bottom allows you to secure the jar to your soldering station.

My soldering iron tip had become blackened and would not take up solder; after using this product the tip is like new and shiny. Does create fumes so need proper venting, and it is an eye and skin irritant so be careful.The tin comes with an adhesive backing so you can stick the tin onto your soldering station to keep it handy.
Using this makes a surprising difference in cleaning and keeping the tip of the soldering iron optimum. Also works well to clean and tin the tip of my Hakko 300 desoldering tool. My new favorite.
I find it hard to toss anything out, including used soldering iron tips. I have multiple tips from several different irons that have been set aside over a 50-year hobby and career. I decided to try this Tinner product to see whether I could resurrect any of them. To my surprise and utter astonishment, this product works real well to rejuvenate old tips; so far I have treated 6 tips from 5 separate irons and have brought back each one to usable function. It can't fix worn-down tips but it does bring back the polish and "solderability" to old tips that otherwise are too corroded and dirty to take up solder. A great product.
