Vacuum Tube - 12AX7S, JJ Electronics, Mid Gain
The JJ Electronic ECC83MG / 12AX7MG is a new take on the classic 12AX7 preamp tube. While it uses the same rugged build and thick glass as other JJ preamp tubes, this tube differs in construction from the typical 12AX7 in that it features a medium-long plate. The JJ 12AXMG has a dynamic and open sound with a rich forward sounding mid range. This tube offers low noise and low microphonics.

Product Reviews
The JJ 12AX7S Mid Gain tube has less gain, and more open, natural-sounding midrange and highs compared to the JJ ECC83s. This tube reminds me of some of the U.S. made 12AX7s with the medium-sized plate designs and is balanced across the frequency spectrum. Possibly one of the best currently manufactured preamp tubes for guitar amps, especially for the price.
I've always had good luck with all the JJ Electronics vacuum tubes. AES always has good service and their prices are some of the best I've found anywhere and they have such a broad range of products especially for tube related projects. Recommended!
These are a great 12ax7 make your guitar amplifier more bluesy sounding. Jj tubes are also very affordable
I was glad to replace the existing 12ax7's in my T25-Laredo amp.
It is producing nice clean sounds now.
It was not your fault and too much trouble to send it back, but it had a regular 12ax7S in the box not a 12ax7s-mg.It was probably a factory mistake.
This tube in V1 of a client's Fender Blues Junior really livened the tone a bit. It went from a generic-Fender-ISH tone to an articulate tube tone!
It doesn't necessarily add more gain, it simply focuses the gain to the lower-mid-range frequencies allowing lead tones to cut through the mix while still maintain full-range.
Nothing better than a good-sounding low-wattage amp being mic'd to a proper level! And these help paint a good picture!!!
When tuning the sound of guitar amplifier, I've been struggling to choose the tube type for reverb mixer position whether ECC803 or ECC83S. ECC803 is higher gain and too much, ECC83S is low gain some time too gentle. Now got MG. Medium gain works just fine. I am very happy to have met this one.
