Product Reviews
Used in V1 of pignose G40V to reduce preamp gain, performed exactly as expected. This tube was ordered to replace a JJ 12AY7 that failed prematurely. I highly recommend this tube for any application where a 12AY7 is called for or when trying to signify reduce the gain in a 12AX7 circuit.
Tested in Commercial Tester and read really weak but worked in amp.
Not sure how long it will last .
Great tube. I like the tone on this and it's nice for cutting the gain of a 12ax7. Fast shipping too.
Great tubes, used them in my fender hot rod DeVille to lower gain to tame this beast down a bit after swapping out mod speakers with webers. Now the amp is quite controllable with a hand held harp mic
These tubes are a great alternative to the 12AX7. The musicians in this area have a great many venues to keep them active but most spots are too small to allow them the utilize their amplifiers anywhere near the "sweet spot", leaving them wondering why they're not getting the quality sound they're looking for (or thought they paid for). I often find that judicious substitutions with the 12AY7 will put big smiles on their faces and give them much more flexibility with their volume settings.
I'd really like to see more tube manufacurers bring out their own versions of this reduced-gain pre-amp.
This was not my first purchase from Antique Electronic Supply but it was the perfect answer for my Fender Pro Jr. that I recently picked up. It sounded great but buzzed like an angry hornet at idle. Put this into the V1 position and the buzz is gone, got a little more clean at higher volume. Sounds great.
Product shipped fast and arrived packed in great shape.
I highly recommend both this tube and Antique Electronic Supply.
