Vacuum Tube - 5881, JJ Electronics
The JJ Electronic 5881 is very similar to the 6L6GC but with a plate dissipation of 23W rather than 30W. Another physical difference is the shorter bulb. These tubes have a soft and balanced response that sounds great in both guitar amps and hifi equipment. The JJ 5881 will work in any amp that uses 6L6 tubes.
Matched versions of this tube use Apex Matching
RoHS Compliant

Product Reviews
I bought a matched pair of 5881s for my Fender HR/Blues deluxe that I modded into a Bassman. So much better that the 6L6s. It begins to break up just a little earlier so I can turn the amp master up some without being overly loud. The tone shape is perfect for the cleans all the way to the tight hard rock that I play. Cheers JJ, Apex and Antique Elec. Supply!
Great Power Tube Replacements. I've used these in a 1965 Fender PA 100, incredible improvement.
I build amps and pedals for local musicians and recently I installed this tube in my bench test amp based on a Fender 5F1 but with a 7k ohm output transformer and a Marshall tonestack. It has only a 12AX7 (JJ ECC803S) and I usually run a JJ 6L6GC in it. The difference is notable. The 5881 is definitely a lower power tube but it seems to have a much rounder bass response. This is a weird analogy but if the sound response of the 6L6 is like the shape of an eggplant then this sounds more like a pear. Fatter on bottom and not as big on the highs and not nearly as big but sometimes all you want is a pear.
I installed these in an original Fender Blues Deluxe amp (not reissue) and I'm very happy with the results. The amp has a very balanced tone now-good lows, excellent mids and sparkly highs. I've used a number of different brands of 6L6s (original Svetlanas- circa 2000, Groove Tubes GE6L6 and Sovtek 5881s) in this amp and I prefer the tone of the JJ 5881s over the others. These also have a high plate voltage rating (around 500V). Well done JJ!
Actually very nice sounding tubes. As mentioned in the description they are a little flat, but create a great canvas for heavy pedal users.
VERY WELL DONE JJ !!!! Beautiful sounding tube! Lows very defined fat and tight, nice midrange, sweet highs, very musical tube. Test amp was a Bugera 333 Infinium loved the sound so these will be the mainstay in this amp. Thank You AES for your service and expertise!!!!!
