Superior high-power Octal Beam Tetrode, suitable for any amp using 6550 or KT88. Designed to hold up in even the most punishing environment of high powered bass amps, such as Ampeg SVT. With 42 watts of plate dissipation in tetrode operation and 44 watts in triode, power is improved even over desirable vintage types.

  • Thanks to extra headroom, bass players can realize the full dynamic and tonal range of the instrument
  • Nickel steel side rod mica supports sweet tone regardless of setup, even in combos where the tube is only inches from the speaker

Bought a EH 6550 to replace a JJ KT88 that blew up in my homebrew amp. This tube sounds great - different than the KT88 , natch, but good. Compared to an EL34 this tube is louder and cleaner( breaks up later).
