The JJ Electronic 6V6S is another modern classic from JJ. This 6V6 has the standard rugged construction we’ve come to expect from JJ which allows it handle much higher plate voltages than the typical 6V6 tube. The JJ 6V6 can even be used in place of a 6L6 in some amplifiers. Overall this tube has a warm and balanced tone with incredible separation and response. The highs come in clean and smooth with a lot of clarity. The mids are full and distinctive. The lows are fat and punchy. These tubes can cover a spectrum of sounds and styles all within the same amplifier.

I realize your company primarily deals with guitar amps, but I promised the man at the counter I would provide a review of JJ 6V6 tubes from the prospective of someone using them in a stereo amplifier. I am working with a 1960 Magnavox Imperial console stereo, equipped with the (in)famous split-frequency stereo amplifier or bi-amps. These amplifiers have earned the reputation of producing wimpy bass. There is a P-P 6V6 bass amp and a single-ended 6V6 treble amp per channel. I went thru this amplifier, replacing any resistor that was more than 5% out of tolerance. I replaced every capacitor, coupling and electrolytic. I made sure to use as matched resistors channel to channel as I could find, most within 50 ohms of each other. I made sure all element voltages were checked at 117 VAC line voltage and were within 5% of specs. Then I populated the output with 6V6JJ's and checked the plate dissipation and plate current. The quad of JJ's for the bass amps were matched to 37 ma which is exactly what they tested. The JJs for the treble amps were matched to 29ma, they tested at 31 ma. Not only did I get reasonable bass response, this cleaned up fidelity in general. Crisp clear treble, full midrange, firm, controlled bass response. JJ's brought this "300-pound clock radio" into the Magnificent Magnavox range! I have five other Magnavox stereos that would benefit from JJ tubes. Bought a quad biased them around 24ma at 402 volts in a tween twin HP designed for 6v6s. They sound very nice and I've got about 6 hours on them with no problems.

Bought a matched set of JJ 6v6s for my Princeton Reverb after the Groove Tube set I bought(GC) in Jan. failed. 15 hours use, tops.. One was DOA. Contacted support and had a new matched set less than a week after shipping the bad set back. Can't ask for more than that.

These are my go to 6V6 tubes. A few watts more powerful and sound as good as NOS USA. When combine with speakers above SPL 100 can make a small amp sound huge.
