The JJ Electronic 6V6S is another modern classic from JJ. This 6V6 has the standard rugged construction we’ve come to expect from JJ which allows it handle much higher plate voltages than the typical 6V6 tube. The JJ 6V6 can even be used in place of a 6L6 in some amplifiers. Overall this tube has a warm and balanced tone with incredible separation and response. The highs come in clean and smooth with a lot of clarity. The mids are full and distinctive. The lows are fat and punchy. These tubes can cover a spectrum of sounds and styles all within the same amplifier.

Yes, these can be used in place of the Groove Tube 6V6s. We only offer these in Apex matched sets, but we feel Apex tube matching is the best service in the industry. You can request low, medium, or high numbers if you have a preference.

Low numbers will give a player access to earlier breakup, while high numbers will offer more clean headroom from the amp.

I am seeing issues with the glass in JJ power tubes, more and more. As a vacuum tube is being evacuated (having the air pumped out) traditionally the tubes had a gas flame applied to the glass to help all the air get evacuated. This is a dual process where the extreme heat cooks off moisture and drives out all of the air and other impurities, and then the pinch is closed off and the glass needs to cool at a controlled rate to properly anneal the glass. Traditionally glass items are annealed in a lehr, but with vacuum tubes the annealing happens while the tube is having the air sucked out. JJ has been cooling their tubes MUCH TOO FAST, creating stresses within the glass that will break the glass when the tube is heated from being in 100% normal use within design parameters. So JJ is definitely NOT burning any of their tubes in at all on a test jig, or the simply do not care if a sample batch shows a whole batch is faulty.

I have nothing to compare them to at the moment but I can tell you the amp came with Grove tubes and it never turned it on until I replaced those with the Apex matching burned in JJ 6V6S valves . I love the way the amp sounds even though I need to Bias it soon to help the new valves really do what they are meant to. Thank all at Antique electronic supplies for all your help! Thank you for prompt shipment last week. I put these nice looking tubes in my restored Philco 46-1209 AM/SW/Phono console radio (1946 vintage). It is now performing great with this pair of JJ 6V6S. One of the 6V6S has a slight blue glow, but I am reading on internet that this is considered normal for these tubes. This is my first time to try JJ brand. I hope they will last many years.

5/5 The JJ 6V6 power tubes are stout and sound great in my Fender '57 Deluxe Reissue. I've used JJ tubes for many years in other amps and they always work good and last long.

Replaced old RCA tubes in a Fender Princeton reverb with a matched set of these. Replaced the screen grid resistors with new ones that were also matched in resistance (measured and hand selected). Fixed bias is now perfect and amp sounds wonderful.

AES always provides good JJ tubes for the right price. I have bought many of them over the years. These went into a 1963 Princeton (non reverb) tuxedo cosmetics that my customer found in a barn. The amp sounded wonderful whenI finished cleaning and doing a few minor repairs. Just what this amp needed.

I recently purchased power tubes for my Fender 65 Princeton Tweed and my 68 Custom Princeton Reverb as backups. I used both amps extensively.
