The JJ Electronic 6V6S is another modern classic from JJ. This 6V6 has the standard rugged construction we’ve come to expect from JJ which allows it handle much higher plate voltages than the typical 6V6 tube. The JJ 6V6 can even be used in place of a 6L6 in some amplifiers. Overall this tube has a warm and balanced tone with incredible separation and response. The highs come in clean and smooth with a lot of clarity. The mids are full and distinctive. The lows are fat and punchy. These tubes can cover a spectrum of sounds and styles all within the same amplifier.

I bought these to replace the 6L6gc power tubes in my fender hot rod deluxe. First I installed the fromel supreme mod kit, replaced the preamp tubes to JJ 12au7 in V1 and a JJ 12at7 in V2.i am completely blown away with the tone of this amp...I'll never go back to 6L6 power tubes in this amp ever again. These JJ tubes sound great and have proven to me they can handle the higher plate voltage.

Great tube. Clean with rich bass in my Silverface Princeton Reverb. I like this tube and the Tung Sol second. Great Service from Antique Electronic Supply.

I bought two sets of these with the matching option and have been very satisfied. I will definitely purchase them again!

An economical replacement for a silverface champ. Sounds great.

I love the sound and reliability of JJ power tubes. This 6V6 is one of their best!

Love these - great for reducing output volume allowing better use of the amp - replaced my HotRod Groove Tubes 6L6's with them & am looking at changing several amps I've built with them as well.

I was having a problem with this old Electro M8e amp. I had replaced the tubes with some pretty pricey ones, ( tube amp doctor) but after a year or so, I started hearing some strange noises and the volume was dropping. since the tubes weren't that old, I suspected something major was wrong. before taking it in to get looked at I thought I might as well try a new power tube. well, the JJ 6v6 saved the day. it sounds better than ever. I use JJ tubes in all my amps.

I purchased a matched set for my '81 Princeton Reverb. Checking the Bias and PV with my Bias Probe and VOM. I discovered they were not matched or even close to the same current draw lower one was about 14.3 mA and the higher one was 19.7 mA at 431 PV. Okay I figured close enough but not really matched. After only a few hours of moderate use the 19.7 mA prematurely failed. I know this happens with any tube brand, had worse troubles with Sovtek 6V6's several years ago and have been using some used RCA OS tubes (not well matched) from a re-tubed amp I used to own. I have a set of JJ's in my Deluxe Reverb that seem to hold up well and have given me no problems. I'll replace the failed tube with a new JJ and hope they hold up as a pair.

This is a new tube with a high reading on tube tester. Buy your tubes here.

I should knock off a star for the tone, but these are a very tough and robust valve, and some people like the tone, despite the fact it is not like any true NOS 6V6. These have a unique tone, but it is not quite a 6V6 tone either. These are more like a 6L6G crossed with a 6V6G than an actual 6V6GTA tone. They lack the tone of a quality NOS 6V6G, 6V6GT, 6V6GTA, 6V6GTY, or 7408. These sound like a cross between a 6L6GC and a 6V6GTA. These do not compress and fatten up like a 6V6, and the tone can be a bit harsh and edgy. If you know what a real 6V6GTA sounds like, and are looking for that creamy lush fat compressed tone, try something else. The Tung Sol reissue, or Chinese 6V6GTs come to mind, and there are still a lot of NOS and used 6V6GTs out there too. These are tough valves, and will take very high plate voltages. Watch your plate currents. All the Slovakian JJ stuff can draw way more than spec, and I have had more than my share of JJs that were way out of spec. The only other brand that is this bad, is New Sensor. One tube would be running really hot and another was cool enough to touch, and that was why I stopped using JJs for a while. The JJ is the toughest 6V6GT on the market right now, but the tone has a lot of 6L6 in it to my ears. Compared to my Marconi Wireless 6V6GTAs, or Belgian made Pope 6V6GTYs these are an epic fail. Compared to the New Sensor Electroharmonix, these are a huge improvement. These JJs are a tiny bit like the Philips 6V6GTY JAN black plate. The Philips has a rounded plate with squared corners, but you will get a whole lot more mileage, and better tone from the Philips JANs. You want to run all this new stuff for at least a day and see what changes. A good pair of these can go bad in a few hours. JJ seems to have improved somewhat, but I still watch these very closely, until I am satisfied they are ready to go.
