Vacuum Tube - 6V6GT, Tung-Sol Reissue
Totally Tweed! The preferred OEM tube of '50s-era Fender Tweed Champ and Deluxe amplifiers The Tung-Sol 6V6 has a geometry designed to safely handle the higher voltages used in guitar amps " plus heavier plate and grid materials. The result.. better mids and bottom while keeping the smooth top of the classic 6V6's. The Tung-Sol 6V6 breaks up evenly from low E to high up the neck. Blues players will LOVE these tubes for the way they sing!

How long should this tube last with moderate wear?
Asked by Anonymous on October 21st, 2016.
Tube life varies on the application/circuit in which it is used as well as how hard it is pushed when in use.The amount of play hours is also a factor. Unfortunately there is not a set time frame for how long tubes will last.

Is this tube a 6 or 7 pin?
Asked by Anonymous on September 14th, 2017.
These tubes have 6 pins and will work in any situation that calls for a 6V6.

Product Reviews
Well rounded tone, beautiful smooth breakup - this is the 6v6 sound I have in my head. Princeton Reverb clone just sings. These tubes create a much smoother, more musical toanz than the JJs these replaced. Too expensive, but it's 2023 so everything is too expensive. JJs are fine - these are way better.
Bummed. I bought an Apex matched pair of these tubes and they literally only lasted a matter of hours between two sessions before red-plating. They were biased on the cool side at ~20mA in a 6G3 combo with 438V on the plates. I know it happens but I put the 8 year old JJ 6V6S back in and they run fine even biased closer to 25mA. I'll be buying JJ for any amp with plate voltage over 400V.
I have used Tung-Sol for quite some years and have never been disappointed.
I have mixed feelings about these. I put a matched pair in a Fender 65 Princeton Reverb Reissue and they bring a noticeable improvement to the tone. I had a pair of matched Groove Tubes in there (which I think were OEM/stock? They're EHX 6V6 rebranded...) and the TS are smoother, rounder, thumpier bottom end, less harsh treble bite, more color and fun and snap in the midrange. Just a much more pleasant experience overall.
The Apex Matching... I'm not convinced my tubes are matched all that well. I have bias points of ~18.5mV and ~21mV. I would not call that matched. That's over a 10% difference. So either something is off with my amp, or the tubes just aren't matched that well. I guess I'm disappointed that I paid extra for no benefit.
I am fond of Clean amps and believe that the tube you choose make a big difference.
Recently one of my Tung Sol 6v6 and needed to be replaced. I lean towards match pairs and ordered those replacements. In the meantime I replaced those two Tubes with another brand ---- One of the most commonly used... into my Fender 68 Custom Deluxe Reverb.
The sound was harsh and you could tell those tubes were running hot... as they added a level of noise
The Tung Sold seem to shave a lower output and a creamier sound -- they also quiet down the 68 DR which tends to be a bit noisy anyway.
Having a few amps I simply avoid the 68 until the replacement Tung Sold arrived
They are now installed and yup.... They are perfect for my ears.
I retubed my Fender Super Champ x2 with a Tungsol match pair GT6V6s this week and a Tungsol 12AX7 I got from TAM/AES months ago. Wow! What a difference in power, clean headroom and a more dynamic EQ. The channel 2 modeling settings have power and a nicer overdrive than the OEM tubes that came with the amp head. I tried a TAD 7025WA PS preamp tube I got from TAM months ago and it sounded great too!
Just retubed my Fender Champ X2 head with a matched pair of Tung-sol 6V6s and a 12AX7 preamp. Huge difference from the GT OEMs that came with the head. More power and clean headroom. Very dynamic response with good mids, bottom and love those sparkely highs. Always good stuff and customer service from tubesandmore.com!
Nice upgrade from a JJs tube. I put it into the power section of a Monoprice (Stage Right) 5 watt 1x8 combo amplifier. Really evens out the frequency response and tames the shrill high end. I also put a Tung-Sol 5751 in the pre-amp section. The two tubes make a nice combo with this amp.
Bought my second set of these because they shine in my little Class A two stroke amp I built a while back. I get the hard (H) set for more clean headroom. It’s about 8 watts but it’s loud and sweet. The trebles are awesome as well with musical mids. Compared to the EH6V6GT, these are louder and chimier. No comparison really. So much so I bought a 3rd pair as a backup. Love these TungSols!
I own a Fender American Hand-Wired '64 CUSTOM PRINCETON REVERB which had some microphonic tubes.
After reviewing some possibilities I decided to completly retube with new re-issue Tung-Sol tubes (2x6V6, 3x12AX7, 1x12AT7 and 1x5AR4). This setup sounds a little warmer and more dynamic than the stock tubes in my opinion. I'm thrilled withe the results! Great service (ease of purchase and prompt shipping) from Antique Electronic Supply. Highly recommend!
