Vacuum Tube - 7189, Tung-Sol Reissue
Tung-Sol has reissued the rare 7189, a high fidelity audio specific variation on the EL84 tube. In addition to the increased fidelity, the 7189 features a higher maximum plate voltage rating of 400V. These tubes are great for both guitar and HiFi amplifiers and can be used in any EL84 or 6BQ5 position.
"In 1959 Tung-Sol developed a premium, up-rated version of the 6BQ5/EL84 for use in industrial and military circuits. This tube was designated 7189. Due to its higher plate voltage rating and increased clean headroom, it became a favorite power tube for use in medium power stereo amplifiers and receivers made by H. H. Scott, Sherwood, Fisher, Lafayette, and many other hi-fi manufacturers. It was also used in high-end guitar amplifiers manufactured by Magnatone. Due to its increased ratings, it was considered as an upgrade for 6BQ5/EL84 amplifiers for increased performance and reliability.
The original 7189 tube production ceased in the early 1980s and vintage 7189 tubes have become expensive and hard to find. In order to allow these fine vintage 7189 amplifiers and receivers to continue be used [sic], the Tung-Sol 7189 tube has been reissued. The 7189 Tung-Sol® reissue is built to the same specifications as the original 7189 Tung-Sol for the high fidelity and performance expected from the vintage 7189 amplifiers and receivers produced in the 1960s and 1970s.
Strongly committed to quality manufacturing, Tung-Sol tubes have always been known for their reliability and great tone. Today's new production Tung-Sol tubes are constructed with the same commitment to quality and reliability. Tung-Sol tubes reflect the best in vintage Tung-Sol construction with unsurpassed tone and reliability." - Tung-Sol

Product Reviews
7189 tubes are great.
They have been installed in My H.H.Scott 222C Stereo Amp.
These 7189 tubes were original tubes and I have been using 6bQ5 tubes since 7189 not available.
The amp has been rebuilt and the new 7189 tubes have been installed in the unit.
It sounds GREAT! Glad they are available again. Thanks for your help.
