The first electronic amplification of sound was done with Vacuum Tubes. We have pre-amp, power and rectifier vacuum tubes among other types in New Old Stock from the golden era of American & European manufacturing as well as current production tubes from today.
Superior "Black base" high-voltage power pentode. Most common power pentode found in British amplifiers such as Marshall, Hiwatt, Laney, and Sound City. The EL34EH defines the classic British rock sound of the 1960s and 1970s. Perfect EL34 for vintage equipment and for improved performance of modern amps. Extremely musical and predictable, with a sound that is rich, smooth, and detailed without being edgy.
Due to many requests by fans, the Tung-Sol EL84/6BQ5 has been reissued. The Tung-Sol EL84 / 6BQ5 was a popular OEM tube for American-made EL84 / 6BQ5 guitar amplifiers, such as those built by Gibson and Harmony. Due to its rugged construction and conservative ratings, it is the most reliable current production EL84 type available for use in Vox AC-30 type amplifiers. In addition, its linearity and tone characteristic make it the ideal replacement for EL84 hi-fi amplifiers, such as those built by Fisher, Scott, and Harmon-Kardon. Tube measurements are as follows:
Height: 2.75” (without pins)*
Diameter: 0.87”*
*Note: Due to the method of production in regards to the glass, measurements may vary slightly.
Tube Amp Doctor opted for the thickest glass possible and the heaviest construction available, just like the Russian EL84M, and combined these features with the sonically most promising cathode plate option. The sound can be described as very harmonic in the middle and treble frequencies, without adding too much power to the bass.
A new take on the classic 12AX7 preamp tube. While it uses the same rugged build and thick glass as other JJ preamp tubes, this tube differs in construction from the typical 12AX7 in that it features a medium-long plate, which provides a dynamic and open sound with a rich forward sounding mid range. This tube offers low noise and low microphonics.
The JJ Electronic 5881 is very similar to the 6L6GC but with a plate dissipation of 23W rather than 30W. Another physical difference is the shorter bulb. These tubes have a soft and balanced response that sounds great in both guitar amps and hifi equipment. The JJ 5881 will work in any amp that uses 6L6 tubes.
Superior power Beam tetrode with large plate dimensions and improved grid structure for increased power handling capabilities. Excellent tone and performance compared to most other 6L6 or KT66 types.
Russian-made Mullard Reissue 12AX7 dual triode. Large sound stage with excellent detail. Factory selected for low noise and microphonics. Great for hi-fi amps.
The JJ Electronic 7591 is a reliable and accurate reproduction of the classic tube. This 19 Watt pentode has been used in a variety of amplifiers including Hi-Fi amps and Ampegs. The JJ 7591 is a great replacement for any 7591 tube position.
9 pin miniature preamp tube (Amplification Factor = 100). This Russian tube is full bodied and well balanced. It has a high gain with a very smooth presentation. In overdrive, it is not quite as defined as the 12AX7-S-JJ, but it offers more crunchy fizz.
