High quality USA made Gavitt wire. This wire features an external braided shield covering a waxed black cotton cloth braid over a celanese braid. The wire is stranded 22AWG with a tinned overcoat (topcoat) so no additional tinning on the inner wire is required for use. Sold by the foot.

So if I ordered three of these would I get three, 1-foot long pieces with both ends trimmed and pre-tinned?

If you ordered a QTY of three, you can request that it be cut in individual 1FT pieces, but normal policy is to send one continuous piece. The wire itself is pre-tinned from the manufacturer.

What material is the braid made of? Is it solderable?

The outer shielding is made from tinned copper and is solderable.

The cloth insulation means that you can solder on the braided exterior without worrying about melting through and causing a short.
This is the difficult to find wire I needed to replace old pickup leads. The wire was easy to work with and of a heavier gauge than most modern wiring
I haven’t used this yet, but this wire is beautiful. It will be a great way to shield antenna and other sensitive wiring in radios and amplifiers.
