The R.F. system in the 40 is identical to that in Series 30 Model

In the audio chassis several changes have been made. The power transformer has been replaced by a larger type, which supplies 2.5 volts to filaments or - 45 power tubes and plate voltage necessitates the use of a filter condenser approximately 250 volts to their plates. This increased of larger working voltage rating and also the use of a dynamic speaker field winding of greater resistance so as to correctly drop the high voltage to the proper value for the remaining tubes of the receiver. A smaller value of bias resistor is also required. The dynamic speakers used with Series 40 Receivers employ a 5000 - ohm field coil. The output transformer used to couple the voice coil to the power tubes has a ratio of 25:1. Referring to wiring diagram shown this schematic diagram is that of Series 30. However, a 900 - ohm resistor replaces the one designated as 2339 which is of 1000 - ohm resistance. In all resistagoos such as tube layout and sequence Series 40 is identical to Series 30.
